EEEEEEE! Look at my brand spanking new toy! I am so excited to try this lens out during my upcoming trips with momma.
It’s a Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 Image Stabilized lens and it is awesome! I also got a teleconverter to add a bit more range for shooting animals and such.
I rented a Canon 100-400mm for the Alaska trip this past May, but found that I didn’t care for it as much. The smallest aperture was f/4.5 at the 100mm range, so you can’t really add a teleconverter to go longer.
The 70-200mm with a teleconverter was the compromise in getting more range without giving up as much light. So, I can shoot 100-3000mm at f/2.8 (with Canon’s 40D 1.5x built-in sensor magnification) or from 400-600mm at f/4 with the teleconverter. Not too bad.
Anywho…. I can’t wait to try it out.
