On the Fly…..

Time Flies

I have been very delinquent on blog posting recently.  Sorry about that.  I seem to be in a funk recently at seemingly everything.  My joints are hurting, my diet has stalled, work is slow as molasses, and I am just generally grumpy.  Doesn’t make sense to post about nothing.

But momma is coming for a visit and that always brightens things up a little.  At minimum it forces me to get off my ass and clean the house and get some other things done like truck the pile of stuff for donations over to the Goodwill (seeing that this pile is stored on momma’s bed kinda helped in that decision).

We have two small trips planned.  First, we are going to spend the weekend out on the Olympic Peninsula.  Staying in a cabin right on the Pacific ocean and then one night at the Sol Duc Hot Springs where we will take advantage of the hot mineral pools.   Then later, we are off for a week long road trip to Yellowstone National Park.  I have been there in the summer (hot and sucky with way too many people) and in the winter (awesome!), but I have heard great things about Yellowstone in the fall and have always wanted to go.  We might also make a side trip to Glacier National Park if the weather is good.

This is mainly a photo trip for me.  I am trying to get more motivated on the photography end, so getting out there and taking photographs is the method for me.  Unfortunately, the National Geographic Traveler photo seminar I had planned on going to next weekend right before the trip was canceled, so poop on that.  However, mom and I replaced that seminar with the weekend trip to the Olympics, so it is not a total loss.

I did attend a photo seminar at the local zoo here in Seattle, but that was kinda of a joke.  It was really geared toward the beginner photographer with their point and shoot and by the time we got done with the lecture, it was 11am…. worst time for shooting in the harsh mid-day light.  And, of course, all the animals are sleeping by then.  I did try a few things and will post some photos of that venture soon.
